Quick update! Shows - Hex Nine, Vivian Girls Experience, Northern Liberties, art show..... wow.... busy....

Firstly, let me say how excited and blown away I was today to receive some incredible 'fan art' from someone I traded a Northern Liberties recording to at the 'zine fest! THANK YOU Rebecca George -- you'll be getting a (hopefully) equitable piece of postal mail in return soon!

Now.... here are a bunch of updates on upcoming events I will be involved in. I would like to add links to all the bands etc, but honestly.... it is 3:41, and I am tired and feeling lethargic. I am 'Daisy-sitting' Daisy the crippled pigeon this week, and she is sound asleep in my lap. I am looking at her tightly shut little pigeon eyelids and getting *quite* jealous!

Here's a snapshot of some of what's happening in my corner of the universe, repasted from that waking nightmare of an excuse for a Website, mice-face:

Yes, I am busy.

But, as far as I know, I only live one time. So why not?

There are a lot of things coming up, on my front. There's the ART SHOW opening at Widener University on the 28th. of this month. What I have seen of the other work looks incredible, and I am really excited for this. See postcard below!

HEX NINE have two shows coming up - one this Saturday in west Philly (at The Farm - 4833 Walton - starts early at 7 PM, free with costume) with THE OUBLIETTE ENSEMBLE, THE VULGAR REMEDIES, SUZY SUBWAYS & ISH KLIEN, and another show on Wed. the 19th. downtown at The Khyber (56 S. 2nd. St.) with READING RAINBOW, POPO, and QUAGGA.

NORTHERN LIBERTIES are then playing a sold out show the very next day with THE DEAD MILKMEN and MERCURY RADIO THEATER. We will be featuring some guest musicians from our favorite old-school Philly band RUIN... playing one or two or three RUIN songs, and maybe a new song... who knows? This is all tentative at this point, we have to see how rehearsals turn out before we know what we are able to pull off, musically. This may also yield some top-notch stuff for the collaboration album.

THE VIVIAN GIRLS EXPERIENCE are playing a show for children! It will be at the 'Other Green Line' cafe in west Philly (4305 Locust) from 3 - 6 PM on Sunday, November 16th. We are going to go "whole hog" with costumes. Enid Crow made bonnets, and we hope to also have some crazy blengin style wings. Kids will love it, or they'll at least remember it, ha ha! More details to come - I still have to find out what the other music etc. will be.

Here are the fliers that exist so far. These images are "clickable thumbnails", so you can enlage them by "clicking" on them using your mouse controller. BEHOLD:

First of all....

This blog will serve as an outlet for clocking and recording the goings-on and non-goings-on in the world known as myself, to me, and to others as to some other, to some degree or another removed.

This blog will link from Justin Duerr.com, to serve the function of the 'news' link there, but with the added bonus that readers can leave comments..... it became slightly uninspiring to keep abreast of the 'news' transmissions with no way to know (one way or the other) whether or not anyone was receiving them. So hopefully now I will at least be able to entertain the notion that some lonely entity on the W.W.W. could possibly stumble into this corner of the web and leave a note to state such. Why this matters, and what this means, I will leave up to the theoretical readers to decide.....

Today is Tuesday August 19th., 2008 AD, 5:30 AM. Surely the world is all bound on a precipice of colossal horror, as per usual, and surely also a fit of hilarity is about to break loose somewhere. But everyone knows that. Here's something you might not know:

Tonight Hex Nine worked on recording more songs. We are going to record many song. We already have some songs finished, but in rougher-hewn forms, or different forms.

Hear one of our older rough recordings of a song about bees called 'Bees' HERE!

Also, I have a very busy weekend coming up! Northern Liberties have a show coming up this weekend (Saturday) with Technician and No One And The Somebodies.

I also will be having an art opening at the record store 'Digital Ferret', which will also comprise a record release event for genCAB and Panic Lift. The weekend events will also act as a de facto birthday celebration for myself, on my 31st. year as whatever it is I am or was.

Fliers for the weekend events can be seen here - CLICK TO ENLARGE:

The new Auric Doves album has been with me for a while now.

I am going to make 50 hand-drawn covers, so each cover will be unique & special. These are the first ten..... plus a snapshot of the eight available right now (I've sold two so far)..... they're $10 and contain 10 songs clocking in at 36 minutes & 14 seconds. I will be dropping some off at the record store 'The Marvelous' in west Philly tomorrow, or you can mail order one (add $4.00 for postage, check money order or paypal - Justin Duerr, PO Box 13312, Phila. PA. 19101, eulogycontact@hotmail.com) OR you can get one from me in person -- I'll have them with me this weekend at the art opening and the Northern Liberties/Technician/No One & The Somebodies show.

Here is a sample song from the album -- it's called 'Halloween Ice skating Anthem' and it started out as a Hex Nine song, but it was hard to play with a drum machine -

In other news (it's been SO LONG since a Justin Duerr.com news update, SORRY!) the newest in my ever-ongoing series of large posters has been completed. These can be ordered for $18 through the mail (comes rolled in a tube), or $10 in person... I have images and video of this poster..... see HERE:
